Will The Palms Have to Honor Epic Poker’s $1M Freeroll?

This could leave a mark…

Well this is interesting.

While we can’t get any official word yet, we are hearing significant chatter among players and local Vegas gaming sources that the Palms casino may end up having to honor Epic Poker League‘s championship freeroll.

Epic Poker only had a third party license to host tournaments. The actual gaming license itself to hold Epic’s tournaments was provided by the Palms.

Assuming that Epic cannot find financing to eventually host its promised $1M championship event (a VERY safe assumption)–the Palms may be on the hook.

We’ve also heard rumblings of a lawsuit in the works by players who would’ve qualified for the championship freeroll against Epic. It would be more than safe to assume that the Palms would be listed on that lawsuit.

The big question remaining is if the Palms is forced to pony up for the championship event–will it be for the full $1M–or just $750,000 (i.e. only three tournaments, not four, were held, so they essentially are not on the hook for that additional $250,000 from the final event).
